There is no getting away from it; we are adventure tourism junkies, and would like to see South Africa positioned as the adventure tourism capital of the world. This is a positioning statement that countries like New Zealand have exploited with considerable success, and there is no reason why South Africa is not equally worthy of this title. Sure the world has some pretty amazing adventure products: the Great Wall of China, Iceland’s Northern Lights, Tanzania’s migration, rafting and rock climbing in the Pyrenees, snow leopards in Ladakh, and so it goes on.
South Africa has: the biggest gathering of predators on the planet – the sardine run, the greatest floral spectacle in the world – Namaqualand, the worlds highest single span arch bridge and the 3rd highest bungee jump – Bloukrans, the worlds most renown game reserve – Kruger. Now add to this: the whales off the southern cape coast, sand-boarding down Dragon Dune, and so our list goes on and on.
